WorldSkills Team In Japan
Corporate Sponsors for WorldskillsBrian Lumley the cooking competitor who represented Jamaica at the WorldSkills International Competition in Japan has been very busy making his mark since his return to Jamaica. On the heels of his return from Japan, he won the prestigious "Chef of the Year Award" the youngest chef to achieve this feat. In receiving the award, Brian said 'the experience gained at the WorldSkills International Competition in Japan provided me with the confidence needed to cop this very special award."
Brian's achievement both locally and internationally has made him one the most sought after motivational speakers in training institutions island wide on the theme "Culinary Arts a viable career option" On June 14, 2008, he had over fifty students at the Above Rocks Vocational Training Centre eating out of his hand as he demonstrated two methods of preparing chicken with starch and vegetables.
He also demonstrated the proper presentation of meals to students who kept asking for more. Brian who is currently pursing the advance professional chef programme with the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) at Runaway Bay HEART Academy said 'I was thrilled by the experience of sharing my knowledge and skills with these students; in fact it has inspired me to pursue teaching as one of my career options" Brian has also given motivational talks to students at Runaway Bay HEART Academy and Granville Vocational Training Centre, with students at both institutions rating his presentations very highly.
It is non stop action for this WorldSkills Jamaica ambassador as he will be featured on TVJs creative cooking and CVMs vibes cuisine shortly where once again he will be showcasing his culinary skills to the world.
