National

Skills Competitions

WorldSkills Jamaica promotes TVET across the education system through the staging of a biennial National Skills Competition. Competitors who are eligible to participate are selected from the national education and training system, representing some 50 skill areas.

Winners from selected skill areas are able to take advantage of an opportunity to participate in training for possible selection to represent Jamaica at the WorldSkills International Competition held in a different country every two years.

 

Which Skills?

These 2018 competitions will focus on Building Construction

Services showcasing eleven skill areas namely:

1.Welding

2. Electrical Installation

3. Electronics

4. Concrete Construction Work

5. Air Conditioning and Refrigeration

6. Carpentry

7. Furniture Making

8. Block Laying

9. Plumbing

10.Wall and Ceiling Lining

11.Wall and Floor Tiling

 

If you are a high school student of grades 10 or 11, HEART Trust/NTA Trainee or Tertiary Level Student completing training any of the above skills, you may apply to become a competitor here.
